Valmy, was with Joe Christopher the center of debate as to who was the first Virgin Islander to play in the Major League as Joe was born in Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands and Valmy was actually born in Santurce, Puerto Rico (his mother went to PR from home in St. Croix to give birth as medical facilities were limited). Williams considers Christopher a friend also as he associated with him when he headed the labor union for public library employees where Williams was Head Librarian. Williams recalls in the late 70's a discussion in a government sports, parks and recreation meeting at the Florence Williams Public Library hosted by Thomas, first mention of developing jogging and cycling trails in the V.I., specifically and to seek funding from Federal Gov.
