Ce texte analyse les frontières et la structure interne de l’espace d’un réseau sociocognitif complexe. À cette fin, il définit rigoureusement la notion de ressemblance entre acteurs d’un tel réseau en proposant une spécification de la manière aujourd’hui la plus satisfaisante d’exprimer mathématiquement la ressemblance entre deux objets : celle qu’exprime la notion duale de distance informationnelle définie dans le cadre de la complexité algorithmique. Dans ce cadre, deux objets sont d’autant plus semblables que l’on passe facilement de la description de l’un à la description de l’autre, et réciproquement. Dans le cas d’un réseau complexe d’acteurs cognitifs individuels, ce degré de ressemblance entre acteurs s’identifie à leur propension à communiquer. Cette propension exprime une probabilité conditionnelle à une situation réticulaire donnée et situe chaque acteur par rapport aux autres dans l’espace ainsi défini. Elle confère donc une structure au réseau, et cette structure exprime le présent de ce dernier comme une tension dialectique entre passé et avenir de son évolution temporelle. Ce concept de propension à communiquer constitue ainsi une formalisation de la notion de présent spécieux analysée aujourd’hui par la philosophie de l’esprit et les sciences cognitives, et il fonctionne comme un marqueur spatiotemporel dans l’évolution du réseau sociocognitif complexe.
