¿Funcionan realmente los microorganismos de montaña (MM) como estrategia de biofertilización? Un enfoque de ingeniería de biosistemas

El uso de microorganismos en aplicaciones ingenieriles, en particular desde un contexto de ingeniería de biosistemas tropicales, es útil para comprender el efecto de variables que determinan la dinámica microbiológica del suelo. Hemos enmarcado y diseñado el presente estudio dentro de esos esfuerzos para documentar el potencial de microorganismos de montaña como estrategia de biofertilización de suelos a partir de un experimento con dos plantas de ciclo de vida corto. Para ello, realizamos un diseño en el cual los cultivos escogidos fueron irrigados de forma diferencial con tres tratamientos de un biol elaborado con tres tiempos diferentes de retención en un biorreactor. Estos tratamientos los comparamos con un control que fue irrigado únicamente con agua. Tras la cosecha, llevamos a cabo una serie de pruebas biológicas, químicas, físico-estructurales y agronómicas con el suelo y con las plantas cultivadas para determinar diferencias potenciales en el efecto de los tratamientos experimentales. Los resultados indicaron que un tiempo de retención en biorreactor cercano a dos semanas fue el que generó un biol con un impacto positivo significativo a nivel de actividad biológica, propiedades químicas del suelo y calidad de los cultivos. Estas diferencias significativas parecen estar relacionadas con una dinámica más activa del sistema edáfico correspondiente al mismo tratamiento. Lo anterior demuestra que la biofertilización con microorganismos de montaña funciona, pero sugiere que una serie de parámetros ingenieriles deben ser estudiados para optimizar esta estrategia de fertilización de bajo costo y ambientalmente sostenible.
