L’institut de recherche d’Hydro-Quebec utilise des robots portatifs pour assurer les operations de maintenance des turbines hydroelectriques. Un des procedes le plus courants est le meulage robotise pour reparer les surfaces endommagees. Les meules utilisees pour assurer un bon enlevement de matiere sont de type boisseau. Le meulage avec un angle constant, dans la direction d’avance et de recul, engendre un profil aleatoire de la meule. Le volume du copeau non deforme varie et le controle du taux d’enlevement de matiere devient difficile. D’ou l’idee de creer un profil spherique de la meule. Avec ce profil d’outil, le volume du copeau non deforme devient constant et independant de l’angle de meulage. L’objectif principal du projet est de developper une nouvelle methode qui permet de creer et de maintenir un profil spherique de la meule de type boisseau. Des equations mathematiques sont developpees pour calculer les angles de meulage en fonction de l’usure de la meule. Une fonction d’oscillation est egalement developpee afin de controler le profil de la meule. Le controle d’enlevement de matiere et d’usure de la meule est assure respectivement avec les modeles d’enlevement de matiere et d’usure. Plusieurs essais de meulage sont faits pour valider les modeles d’enlevement de matiere, d’usure de la meule et d’oscillation. Pour les modeles d’enlevement de matiere et d’usure, le coefficient de correlation est de l’ordre 0,73. Le meulage avec le modele d’oscillation a donne de bons resultats. En effet, la forme spherique du profil de la meule est maintenue et le rayon du profil varie avec une erreur de 4 %.
