Abstract
Depuis la fin de la guerre froide, la fréquence et la variété des missions extérieures des services de police a fortement augmenté. Elles se caractérisent par la mise en place de réseaux de liaisons policiers internationaux, d’échanges de personnel, de programmes d’assistance technique ou encore de formation de policiers à l’étranger. Ces missions posent de réels défis, tant en matière de pratiques policières que pour la réflexion sur l’objet « police ». Ce chapitre se concentre sur la participation des polices canadiennes à des opérations internationales de paix sous l’égide des Nations unies, et spécifiquement sur le défi que constitue l’extension d’un éthos policier développé dans un contexte domestique, à l’espace « hors les frontières » de la consolidation de la paix dans des environnements post-conflit.
