Abstract
Los usos academicos y mediaticos de la nocion de «populismo» aparecieron a principios del decenio de 2000 en Quebec, dos decadas mas tarde que en Francia. Los autores que utilizan esta nocion para analizar la escena electoral quebequense navegan entre las referencias francesas y norteamericanas, pero describen un «pueblo» con propiedades sociales muy distintas de los grupos sociales a los que se dirige este termino en Francia. La comprension de las dinamicas de circulacion, traduccion y recepcion de la nocion de «populismo» en Quebec exige que se examinen simultaneamente las trayectorias de los intelectuales que participan en esos procesos y las especificidades de ese contexto de enunciacion. La menor importancia de la sociologia politica de los grupos sociales en Quebec influye, entre otras cosas, en como lo popular queda (auto)representado mediante esta categoria.
