La recherche qualitative a longtemps été la cible de critiques, lui reprochant de manquer d’objectivité, de validité, voire de scientificité. Aujourd’hui, si ce type de recherche semble mieux se positionner sur l’échiquier de la recherche scientifique tant dans le cadre des recherches subventionnées, commanditées ou institutionnelles, c’est qu’elle a connu, au fil des ans, des développements notables qui lui ont permis de se positionner plus clairement et d’asseoir sa pertinence quant à ses fondements, ses designs et ses procédures systématiques. Notre objectif n’est pas de dresser un bilan exhaustif de ces développements. Nous voulons plutôt faire le point sur quelques savoirs, pratiques et enjeux qui sont au coeur du processus d’analyse de données, en mettant à contribution des éléments de notre expérience personnelle en recherche. Une brève conclusion permettra de dégager de nouvelles préoccupations éthiques posées par certaines pratiques favorables de la part de la communauté scientifique.
