Peningkatan pelayanan transportasi massal di perkotaan seperti Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) akhir-akhir ini menjadi isu utama di kalangan perencana transportasi. BRT telah menjadi salah satu moda transit terpopuler yang menyediakan akses cepat dan mudah untuk memenuhi kebutuhan transportasi di negara berkembang. Di Indonesia, sistem BRT telah diimplementasikan dengan berbagai level penyesuaian terhadap standar BRT. Dua kota besar yang sudah menerapkan sistem BRT adalah Kota Jakarta dengan TransJakarta dan Kota Yogyakarta dengan TransJogja. Meskipun kedua sistem angkutan umum tersebut sama-sama mengusung konsep BRT, namun terdapat perbedaan dalam teknis implementasi sistem yang diterapkan. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan studi komparatif terhadap kedua sistem BRT pada TransJakarta dan TransJogja dengan menganalisis keterkaitan antara aspek BRT system level dan performa operasional layanan dengan jumlah penumpang BRT. Metode dengan pendekatan studi kualitatif dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana aspek BRT system level dan performa BRT dapat berkontribusi terhadap tingkat ridership BRT. Perbandingan kondisi eksisting layanan kedua BRT berdasarkan beberapa parameter teknis dan operasional digunakan sebagai dasar analisis dalam studi ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya dukungan kebijakan pemerintah, keberadaan sistem angkutan umum massal lain, serta integrasi antar moda menjadi aspek yang dapat meningkatkan jumlah penumpang BRT.
