Abstract
Las desigualdades entre géneros se encrudecieron durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Los Mecanismos para el Adelanto de las Mujeres (MAM), por medio de la transversalización de la perspectiva de género en las políticas de respuesta a la pandemia, tenían la capacidad de reducir las inequidades y mitigar el daño de la crisis social. Sin embargo, la capacidad de los MAM para transversalizar el género, discutimos, está fuertemente influenciada por las trayectorias de institucionalización del género en los países. Por tanto, en este estudio analizamos la institucionalización del género en Guatemala, Costa Rica y El Salvador; para asociarlo con la capacidad de los MAM para incidir en el ciclo de formulación de políticas y la gestión gubernamental de la pandemia durante el 2020. Concluimos que los países con instituciones consolidadas consiguieron mayor transversalidad del género en las políticas, reduciendo inequidades entre géneros.
