L’internet des objets (IdO) s’est imposé à la majorité des secteurs d’activités de la société moderne dont celui de l’éducation. C’est ainsi qu’apparut le concept d’intelligence (Smart) pour qualifier ces nouvelles formes d’éducation (smart education) appliquées à l’école (smart school), à l’apprentissage (smart learning), à la pédagogie (smart pedagogy) et à des environnements d’apprentissage (smart learning environment). Des exemples d’écoles intelligente (smart school) sont apparus dans des sociétés bien nanties : Finlande, Australie, Chine, États-Unis, mais qu’en est-il vraiment des possibilités offertes par l’IdO comme solution d’accessibilité à l’éducation dans des zones et des populations moins bien nanties ?
\nCet article présente et discute le contexte et les limites de l’usage des technologies de l’IdO dans le cadre du projet AMI (Apprentissage médié par l’intelligence), issu de la chaire UNESCO (2019-2023) en système intelligent d'apprentissage repensé pour tous (UNESCO Chair for Global Smart Disruptive Learning (GSDL), une solution innovante, tournée vers les technologies intelligentes, adaptatives et mobiles pour pallier l’absence d’école tout en répondant aux besoins des enfants et des communautés de la zone sahélo saharienne en matière d’éducation et de formation.
