Sous la direction de Marie France Labrecque, Manon Boulianne, Sabrina Doyon Cet ouvrage nous transporte dans différentes régions du Mexique et offre un regard nuancé sur les dynamiques structurelles et les réalités quotidiennes des habitants de ce pays à la fois proche et méconnu. Riches de leur expérience ethnographique, les chercheuses et chercheurs québécois et mexicains qui contribuent à cet ouvrage ont fait le pari qu’en examinant en profondeur des dynamiques régionales ils mettraient en lumière des processus complexes de la mondialisation, relevant certes du local, mais aussi du global. Chacune des contributions, campée dans une perspective historique propre à l’économie politique, aborde un sujet précis – la migration, l’environnement, la violence, les mouvements sociaux – tout en touchant d’autres thèmes tels que la pauvreté, la sécurité alimentaire, la citoyenneté, le genre, le féminicide, la justice sociale, le syndicalisme. La situation particulière d’un certain nombre de peuples autochtones, tels que les Mayas, les Mazahuas, les Tlapanèques et les Mixtèques, y est mise en lumière. En traitant de plusieurs États aux dynamiques singulières, dont le Yucatán, le Veracruz, l’Oaxaca, le Guerrero, Puebla, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, l’État de Mexico de même que le District fédéral, cet ouvrage offre un portrait riche et diversifié qui permet de mieux saisir les inscriptions multiples des régions dans les processus plus larges de l’économie globalisée.
