Abstract
Büyük Selçuklu İmparatorluğu, 117 yıllık uzun sayılmayacak hâkimiyet dönemine rağmen Türk tarihi içinde birçok bakımdan oldukça derin izler bırakmış önemli bir siyasi teşekküldür. Türklerin Orta Asya’nın bozkır kemerinden İran vahasına doğru akması ve sonrasında Anadolu’ya geçişini organize etmeleri yaptıkları en önemli faaliyetlerden biridir. Kurdukları medreseler vasıtasıyla İran kültürü üzerinden alınan İslâm inancının kitabi yönüyle temas kurulmasını sağlamaları öne çıkan bir diğer önemli etkinlik alanıdır. Öte yandan yerleşik bir kültüre sahip İran coğrafyasında ekosistemin, ordu yapısının ve yönetim hiyerarşisinin bu yeni düzene uyarlamaya çalışmaları başka bir tarihsel bir olgu olarak göze çarpmaktadır.Ama tüm bu değişimler devlet için oldukça sancılı ve zor bir geçiş sürecine neden oldu. Özelikle iktâ ve gûlam sistemiyle birlikte yeni bir kimlik inşa sürecine giren ordu yapısı bu dönemin en kırılgan dinamiğine sahipti. Zira demografik yapısı çoğunlukla göçebe Oğuzlara dayanan Selçuklu Devleti’nde ordu kuvvetleri büyük oranda Türkmen emîrlerinin önderlik ettiği askeri vesayetin kontrolü altındaydı. Dolayısıyla merkezi bir ordunun kurulması bu vesayete karşı dengeleyici hatta üstünlük kuracak bir güç tabanı meydana getirdi. Melikşah döneminde bu değişim çabaları yavaş ama hükümdarın otoritesini sarsacak bir gelişmeye zemin oluşturmayacak şekilde yaşandı. Fakat Melikşah’ın ölümüyle birlikte ortaya çıkan taht kavgaları bu dönüşümü sarsıcı bir şekilde sekteye uğrattı. Türkmen Emîrleri, kaybettikleri prestijlerini yeniden kazanmak adına bu mücadelelerin içinde yer aldılar ve Selçuklu fetret devrinin seyrini belirleyen ana aktörler olarak ön plana çıktılar.
