T he CUA is a dynamic organization.In the course of a few years, we have gone from a strictly voluntary society to an alliance with the SIU and finally to a lean-andmean independent professional organization.In the past year, we have continued to grow the organization into a responsible and responsive network of committed people who work tirelessly to achieve CUA goals on multiple levels.As in previous years, the members of CUA Committees have been very active and will report at the AGM.The CUA-EAU exchange with 4 of our members visiting various European cities was extremely successful and will be reported on at the Montreal meeting.The CUA Office of Education continued to be at the forefront of urologic education in Canada by creating and sponsoring many educational programs and events this year.New initiatives with the AUA were also discussed recently at the AUA Meeting in Washington.In the aftermath of the recent global recession, continuing changes and challenges in industry funding for CUA initiatives, and ever increasing regulatory oversight of industry collaboration, the CUA has had to become innovative in securing funding for programs.This has led to the establishment of the first CUA Industry Advisory Board in which various companies meet with the CUA regularly for a 2-year period.Since the January Executive Meeting, we have had 2 round table discussions and are incorporating constructive suggestions into how we do business.The CUASF has also been very active this year in attracting proposals from young academic urologists who will carry the mantle for our specialty in the years to come.On the research front, a new, exciting and potentially transforming initiative with industry partnership will be announced soon.The upcoming 66th Annual CUA meeting at the Queen Elizabeth in Montreal is bound to be one of the best ever.Armen Aprikian and his committee have put together a solid educational program based on the needs assessment from last fall.There are 13 renowned invited speakers, 9 educational fora, and an impressive array of scientific presentations, posters and other features.From the Welcome Reception to the President's Reception and Banquet, François Bénard and Serge Carrier promise an exciting, enjoyable and memorable social program.I look forward to welcoming you to Montreal.
