Résumé
We are now entering our 14th year of publication for Haemophilia. We are delighted to welcome new members to our Editorial Board - Luigo Solimeno, an orthopaedic surgeon in Milan Italy; Pier Mannucci who is stepping down as editor in chief of the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis; Kanjaksha Ghosh from Mumbai, India; and Ted Tudderham, the recently appointed Katharine Dormandy Chair of Haemophilia in London. We have also appointed two new associate editors to have special responsibility for meeting reports, Lou Aledort and for reviews, Mike Makris. At the Editorial Board meeting held during the WFH meeting in Vancouver 24 May 2006 Open Access was discussed. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) now request NIL: funded authors to post their finished articles on Pub Med Central (PMC) within a year of publication. The United Kingdom Research Councils (RCUK) advise funded authors to post finished articles on publication in accordance with the copyright arrangement of the particular journal. The Wellcome trust require authors to post articles within six months of publication. They also prefer the pay-to-publish route to achieve Open Access and are prepared to fund this. Blackwell now offers the option of ar Exclusive License Form as an alternative to the standard Copyright Assignment Form. Also the new Online Open service has been launched which enables authors to publish research in a Blackwell journal for all to access online immediately on publication. Editorial board members raised other issues for discussion. It was agreed that we should move toward structured abstracts - Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusion. We will endeavour to institute this during 2007 although there will need to be a period of transition. We also felt that we should replace case reports by ‘Correspondence’ and that a regular format of 1500 words with five references would be requested - again there would need to be a period of transition. We have also decided to include contributions about inherited platelet disorders in recognition of the part Haemophilia physicians play in managing these disorders. Finally, we would like to thank the assistant in the European office, Melanie Prentice, who has managed the journal for the last five and a half years. During this time we have seen a remarkable growth of the journal in terms of the countries contributing, 44 in 2006, and the papers submitted. Our new assistant is Polly Sullivan and we welcome her. We also welcome Judith Barback who is now our Journal Publishing Manager at Blackwell. A journal could not exist without authors and reviewers. Thank you! We look forward to a successful 2007 for Haemophilia.
