Résumé
The main objective of this study is to understand how the learning of the Quebecois management culture can foster or hinder the inter- or intraorganizational mobility of the Latin American immigrant in positions of lnformation and Communications Technologies (ICT) in the City of Montreal. The importance of this type of position is due· to the dynamics and growth of ICT in Ganada and in the province of Quebec. This research specifically seeks: a) to understand the perception, meaning and reinterpretation (or transformation) the Latin American immigrant with a bachelor's or technical degree gives to certain cultural orientations and their impact on mobility; b) to identify whether or not training, particularly coaching or mentor programs in which the immigrant participates, can foster such learning, as well as their possible impact on organizational mobility. In this study, the Quebecois management culture is reflected in the workplace culture of the enterprises (organizational cultures) where the immigrant works. The cultural orientations studied are: autonomy, communication, consensus for avoiding conflicts, equal opportunities and distance regarding the hierarchy. In accordance with this perspective, the qualitative methodology was chosen because this approach permits individual perceptions regarding a phenomenon. included are the methods of phenomenology and a history of the immigrant's lite. Both allow for the observation and understanding of the interaction between different factors affecting mobility; in accordance with the subjectivity of the experiences of the subjects related to the phenomenon of his/her own organizational mobility, as well as showing the cultural subtleties and adjustments the immigrant makes given the cultural differences between the culture of Quebecois management and the Latin American cultural background that the participants in this study bring with them.
