Research Article| January 01 2020 The Forgotten Story of the Bombings of the Italian Church of Saints Peter and Paul in San Fransisco Michael P. Carroll Michael P. Carroll MICHAEL P. CARROLL is a professor of sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He has published a number of articles and books about popular Catholicism in different national contexts, including Veiled Threats: The Logic of Popular Catholicism in Italy (1996) and Madonnas that Maim: Popular Catholicism in Italy since the Fifteenth Century (1992), both published by Johns Hopkins University Press. Although he has lived and worked in Canada for a great many years, he was born and raised in San Francisco and had strong ties to the North Beach Italian colony though his mother and maternal grandparents and great-grandparents.
