A Methods Journal is Born! The Editor-in-Chief of Chemistry-Methods Francesca Novara is happy to introduce Chemistry Europe's new journal: Chemistry-Methods. A big welcome to Chemistry-Methods: a journal dedicated to solving problems in all areas of chemistry. Progress in chemistry research has accelerated to a scarcely imaginable degree in recent years and this progress can largely be attributed to the development of new methods with which to approach research. While new discoveries in the chemical sciences can be serendipitous, methods development allows for chemical transformations to be routinely observed, reproduced, predicted, scaled up, and applied to enable advances in chemistry that have a tangible real-world impact. However, the literature on methods development in chemistry is rather fragmented. New instruments or advances in instrumental design have historically been found in journals of instrumentation with subject-specific chemistry journals reporting on the results obtained by using new instruments. Chemistry Europe is therefore happy to announce the launch of Chemistry-Methods, the first fully open access interdisciplinary journal aimed at the dissemination of new methods in chemistry. Chemistry-Methods publishes high-impact peer-reviewed research on all aspects of methods in chemistry, ranging from operando methods in catalysis to new approaches to imaging and new synthetic methods. Chemistry-Methods covers a very broad scope, providing a forum for publishing all types of research at the sub-microscale, focused on methodology, characterization, and analysis. Chemistry-Methods publishes a variety of manuscript types including both Communications and Full Papers, in addition to Minireviews, Reviews, Highlights and Concept articles. Contributions at Chemistry-Methods undergo rigorous peer review by experts in the field to ensure that the published content is scientifically sound and of the highest quality. Chemistry Europe publishes a series of high-quality journals, covering a very broad range of disciplines within chemistry. To ensure a high level of scientific rigor and to help set the standard at Chemistry-Methods, our editors are supported by an Editorial Advisory Board headed up by our Board Chairs Jana Roithovà (Radboud Universiteit, The Netherlands), Oliver Kappe (Universität Graz, Austria), and Steven Wheeler (University of Athens, USA). All three have a message to share about their views regarding the journal: Alongside our three esteemed Board Chairs, the Editorial Advisory Board for Chemistry-Methods, made up of leading experts in all fields of chemistry from all over the world, is listed in Table 1. We are delighted to have such an impressive array of scientists on board and look forward to working with them to help Chemistry-Methods get off to the best possible start! We are delighted to announce that author publication charges (APCs) for Chemistry-Methods will be waived for all manuscripts submitted during the entirety of 2021. Following 2020, a year that could be kindly referred to as challenging, we look forward to a much better 2021 and are pleased to be able to make this offer to our authors throughout the year. For all of you who are just skimming this editorial and only reading the parts in bold text, there will be no APCs throughout 2021, which will enable free open access publication.
