Résumé

récupéré en direct d'OpenAlex

In 2008 the number of newly submitted manuscripts to Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology (BCPT) as in 2007 was close to 500. It is the first full year where I have had the pleasure of collaborating with my two new Associate Editors, Professor Ulf Simonsen from Århus University and Professor Jens Lykkesfeldt from Copenhagen University. Being three editors has resulted in a further increase in the rejection rate and eventually this means that only the very best and citable papers will be published. In this context it is worth mentioning that the proceedings of the meeting “International Conference on Foetal Programming and Developmental Toxicity”, which in part was sponsored by BCPT, and held on the Faroes Islands in May 2007 was published in the February issue, with many high-impact MiniReviews. BCPT is the official journal and the main sponsor of the 16th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology, and both the journal and WorldPharma2010 was promoted at the “Experimental Biology” conference in San Diego, 5–9 April, at the EPHAR conference in Manchester, 13–17 July, the Ninth World Congress on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Quebec, 27 July to 1 of August and finally at the 29th Annual meeting of the Japanese Society if Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Tokyo during 4th to 6th December. The Danish Society of Pharmacology (DSP) was founded officially on the 28th of November 2008. The firste chairman-elect is associate Professor Mette Rosenkilde from the University of Copenhagen. It is an umbrella organization for 5 independent scientific societies: the Danish Society of Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Danish Society of Clinical Pharmacology, the Danish Society of Clinical Chemical Pharmacology, the Danish Society of Pharmacoepidemiology and the Danish Pharmaceutical Society. The new society has approximately 1500 active members and its main purpose is to strengthen and promote pharmacology as a discipline in Denmark. BCPT and DSP have made a cooperation agreement for the mutual benefit of both parties and I am looking very much forward to the collaboration. In April the chairman Jørgen Søberg Petersen left the Executive Committee because he was appointed Senior Vice President in Merck Serono in Geneva. I wish to thank Jørgen for all that he has done to support and inspire me in modernizing the journal. Jørgen was replaced by Ian Ahnfelt-Rønne with whom I have had an excellent collaboration during the remainder of 2008. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome two new members of the Executive Committee, Professor Hans Bräuner-Osborne from the University of Copenhagen and Associate Professor Jesper Bo Nielsen from the University of Southern Denmark. Professor Mika Scheinin from the University of Turku decided to stop as a MiniReview editor after having been associated with the journal for 3 years. During 2008 I have had an excellent collaboration with the three other MiniReview editors, Professors Jesper Hallas, Eeva Moilanen and Lisbeth Ehlert Knudsen. I also want to thank the Editorial Advisors, the members of the Executive Committe, the American Field Editor William B. Campbell and all of the reviewers listed in this issue. I very much appreciate the work and dedication of Jesper Konradsen, the Associate Journal Publishing manager of our distributor Wiley-Blackwell. I wish to thank the two Editorial Assistants Henrik Horneberg and Tina Ludvig for their work for the journal during 2008. Finally I want to say a sad farewell to the Copy Editor and Production Manager Grete Hoppe Mouret who after more than 40 years with BCPT has decided to retire. Grete was appointed at the journal in 1968 and she has been the loyal support of first Professor Jens Schou and then of me, when I took over in 2003! More than anyone Grete has been the backbone, the spirit and memory of the journal. I wish Grete a long and happy life as retiree.
