FigureOn March 28 in Washington, DC, T. Warner Hudson III, MD, FACOEM, FAAFP, was installed as the new president of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Dr Hudson is among seven physicians who took office during ACOEM's 96th annual membership meeting held in conjunction with the 2011 American Occupational Health Conference. Dr Hudson is Medical Director, Occupational Health Facility, for University of California, Los Angeles. He holds a medical staff appointment at Ronald Reagan Medical Center and is responsible for occupational health for University of California Los Angeles Campus and Health System employees at the Westwood and Santa Monica Campuses. Dr Hudson received his MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr Hudson is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in occupational medicine and by the American Board of Family Medicine. Other officers installed for 1-year terms were President-Elect, Karl Auerbach, MD, MS, MBA, FACOEM, and Vice President, Ronald R. Loeppke, MD, MPH, FACOEM. FigureDr Auerbach is Managing Scientist in the Biomechanics Practice of Exponent, Inc, Philadelphia, PA, and Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. He also serves as Medical Director of MetraComp, Inc, a division of Coventry Health Care, Inc, Bethesda, MD. He received his MD and MBA from the University of Rochester and an MS in bioengineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York. FigureDr Loeppke is Vice Chairman of US Preventive Medicine, Brentwood, TN. He received his MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and his Preventive Medicine Residency, Occupational Fellowship training, and MPH from the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Seattle, WA. Members installed as Directors for 3-year terms (2011 to 2014) were Alan L. Engelberg, MD, MPH, FACOEM; Dean J. Gean, MD, MS, MBA, FACOEM; Amanda C. Trimpey, MD, MPH, FACOEM; and Mark C. Taylor, MD, MPH, FACOEM, for the new position of Young Physician Director. FigureDr Engelberg is Associate Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Employee Health and Wellness Services, New York, NY. He received his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY, and his MPH from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, Pittsburgh, PA. FigureDr Gean is Regional Medical Director, Liberty Mutual Group in Glendale, CA. He is on Volunteer Faculty and Chair of the Residency Advisory Committee at the University of California at Irvine, Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, Department of Medicine. He received his MS in Environmental Toxicology and MBA degrees from the University of California at Irvine and his MD from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. FigureDr Trimpey is Glo-bal Associate Medical Director for GE Energy in Wilming-ton, NC. She is Con-sulting Associate, Di-vision of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, and Clinical Professor for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr Trimpey received her MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and her MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. FigureDr Taylor is Medical Director at St Luke's Work Well Clinic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and his MPH from the University of Iowa College of Public Health in Iowa City. He completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Iowa, Des Moines Internal Medicine Residency Program, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and his Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. FigureBeth A. Baker, MD, MPH, FACOEM, is serving the second year of her 2-year term as secretary/treasurer. Dr Baker is Associate Chief Medical Officer for Canadian Pacific Railway. She is also staff physician at Specialists in OEM of St Paul, MN, and President of Medical and Toxicology Consulting Services. She received her MD and MPH from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. Natalie P. Hartenbaum, MD, MPH, FACOEM, serves one additional year on the Board as Immediate Past President. The 4th National HealthCare Ergonomics Conference will be held June 7 to 8, 2011, at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, WA. This meeting is sponsored by the Washington Safe Patient Handling Committee, the Oregon Coalition for HealthCare Ergonomics, and the University of Washington Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety. The keynote speaker will be Ronda Hughes, PhD, MHS, RN, G. Edwin Howe Endowed Chair for Health Care Transformation and associate professor at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr Hughes will present on the value of integrating patient and employee safety to enhance the quality of health care. Other conference topics will include bariatrics, lean ergonomics, sustainable programs, facilities design and construction, and the aging workforce. The Florida Association of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (FAOEM), an ACOEM component society, will hold its annual meeting August 23, 2011, in conjunction with the joint 66th Annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference and the 23rd Annual Safety and Health Conference, August 21 to 24, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, FA. This conference is sponsored by Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute, the National Underwriter Company, Defense Research Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Sunshine ERC at the University of South Florida, Deep South ERC at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Auburn University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ERC.
