Résumé

récupéré en direct d'OpenAlex

published in this research topic has expand to investigate the neurocognitive deficits into neurological disorders.Zeng et al (Zeng et al., 2023) have used the thalamic subregions as seed to draw the whole-brain functional connectivity, and then compared the shared and distinct thalamic-cortical circuits between bipolar depression and remission. The thalamus stands in the center of bottom-up transmission and top-down regulation of the brain, plays a critical role in emotion regulation and cognition processing. The results showed that bipolar patients during depressive state specifically exhibited decreased connectivity in the prefronto-thalamic circuit, which is widely considered as a cognitive-related circuit and its disruption may do harm to the regulation of emotion and cognition reactions.Gou et al (Gou et al., 2023)have conducted the activation likelihood estimation analysis to understand the underlying neurophysiological mechanism of conscious processing of emotion in depressive disorder. They found a broad scope of brain areas was involved in a deficit of conscious emotion processing, which included the middle temporal gyrus, superior temporal gyrus, parahippocampal gyrus, superior temporal gyrus, and inferior parietal lobule. The activation of brain regions in response to positive or negative stimuli is different.Xia et al (Xia et al., 2023) conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the efficacy of attention bias modification for depression and to explore the optimal protocol of attention bias modification (ABM). They reported that ABM had a greater effect in the improvement of depression and rumination, but there were no significant differences were observed in the attentional control outcome between ABM and attention control training.Chen et al (Chen et al., 2022) have examined the effect of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) activation on the excitatory synaptic transmissions in two major subtypes of GABAergic interneurons, somatostatin (SST)-and parvalbumin (PV)-expressing interneurons, in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). mAChRs play crucial roles in learning, memory, cognition, and psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and depression. It reported that mAChR modulates excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission to SST and PV interneurons within the ACC in a cell-type-specific manner, which may contribute to its role in the antidepressant effects of scopolamine.Yang et al (Yang et al., 2022) have investigated the effects of tDCS (Trancecranial direct current stimulation) on the rehabilitation of cognitive impairment in mild-moderate post-stroke patients. Patients were treated with 14 tDCS sessions, and their cognitive function was evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). It reported that the cognitive and brain functions of patients were damaged but recovered to a degree after tDCS, and suggested increased cortical activation and increased FC between the bilateral cerebral hemispheres that measured by fNIRS can be biomarkers to assess the effectiveness of tDCS in stroke. The research put forward in this topic reflects the diversity and depth of the research into cognition in psychiatry disorders or neurological disorders. The exciting articles in this research topic investigated the effects of tDCS on the rehabilitation of cognitive impairment in mild-moderate post-stroke patients. The results indicated that the tDCS is effective and demonstrated the increased cortical activation and increased FC between the bilateral cerebral hemispheres can be promising biomarkers that assess the effectiveness of tDCS in stroke. We hope academics and clinical can benefit from this research topic in the aspects of acknowledging the neural mechanism of cognitive deficits and in the choosing of treatment therapy.
