Résumé
“Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity and is the torch which illuminates the world” – Louis Pasteur. The International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) aims to promote fellowship amongst endodontists and dentists with an interest in endodontics, and their national endodontic associations, and to promote continuing education in endodontics throughout the world. IFEA is an international organization and currently 41 country national endodontic associations are enrolled as members in this federation. World Endodontic Congress by International Federation of Endodontic Association was initiated first in 1989 in Mexico and was held every three years till 2016. Since 2016, WEC is conducted every year by IFEA. It was a proud moment for us to have won the bid to host the 12th IFEA in India in 2013. Due to the current pandemic situation the IFEA 12th WEC is being conducted as two phases. Phase 1 of the congress is being conducted as an online virtual congress on September 23rd to 26th 2020. Phase 2 of the congress is being conducted as on-site congress on August 12-14th 2021. The online 12th IFEA World Endodontic Congress was held in conjunction with 29th Indian Endodontic society National congress on September 23rd to 26th 2020. Indian Endodontic society has 16 chapters in different parts of the country including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore and aims to endorse the collective efforts of members in the field of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. The society also published regular periodicals, journals and other media providing core knowledge of the subject, which will have wider and unlimited exposure of data nationally and internationally and will enhance sharing of knowledge. And updating one with most recent methods, materials and equipment. IES organizes scientific meetings, seminars at periodic intervals on Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics with specialisation in the subject concerned in India and abroad. There were more than 4000 delegates from more than 35 country member associations, their nominated members, clinical practitioners and students.. The IFEA 12th WEC consisted of 24 online webinars and 19 clinical demonstrations which was conducted over 4 days using a virtual online platform. The were 20 virtual trade booths which was visited by the delegates and students. Our Honorable Union Minister of Health and Family affairs, Shree Dr Harsh Vardhan who leads the country against the Covid-19 pandemic presided as the Guest of Honour during the inaugural ceremony. Eminent experts from the various parts of the world were invited to give the keynote lectures for this online congress. Renowned Speakers from USA, Canada, Egypt, Europe and Australia supported us for this endeavour. The recorded version of the lecturers were made available to all the delegates to watch later till 30th September. The Scientific sessions were moderated by 72 senior and experts from our field from various parts of our country. Phase II of 12th IFEA WEC will be hosted in Chennai from August 12th to 14th 2021. Chennai (The Land of Temples), formerly known as Madras, is the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is located on the southeast coast of India.
