Résumé
In this study, an attempt is made to analyze the story “The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” (2009) by the Canadian author Alan Bradley and “Scarlet and Ivy: The Lost Twin” (2015) by the British writer Sophie Cleverley in order to determine the age stratification of each of the detective stories (adult, adolescent or children's version of the crime text) through the study of key plot elements in them.. Subjecting teenage detectives of the English-speaking writers of the 20th–21st centuries to a thorough analysis in this article, the author applies comparative typological and genre methods, also uses a comparativeand descriptive method. In addition, by analyzing the cultural realities of English life, the author of the article also works within the framework of the cultural and historical method. The scientific novelty of this article consists in the development of a genre canon for the teenage English-speaking detective in modern popular literature on the example of works by A. Bradley and S. Cleverley. The purpose of this study is to consistently study the genre canon of the teenage detective story as a special kind of criminal literature. The significant results of the analysis of the texts include the identification and generalization of the key elements characteristic of English teenage literature. In addition, it is worth noting the identification of typologically similar images of the considered stories, which are found in the manifestation of the characteristic features of the English literary topos characteristic of the English detective story as a whole. These features are the crime scene, the social subtext in the story, the confrontation of teenagers with the adult world, and etc.
