There are many people involved in producing the 12 issues per year of Optometry & Vision Science (OVS) and I would like to thank them all for their high-quality work over the last year. THANK YOU, WOLTERS KLUWER This is the last issue of OVS to be published by Wolters Kluwer and the American Academy of Optometry, and all those involved with the journal over many years (authors, reviewers, and editors) would like to thank all those people at Wolters Kluwer who have helped make it one of the leading optometry research journals. We particularly thank Sara Cleary, who has helped the journal over many years in several posts, including Senior Production Manager, and our Senior Production Editor Laura Mitchell. THANK YOU, OVS EDITORIAL BOARD The Editorial Board help the journal in many ways. First, they help me to triage all the many submissions we receive and provide some feedback to authors. This last year, we rejected without full review approximately 60% of submissions in an average time of 3 days. This means that (a) authors get a very quick decision if their submission is not going to be published and (b) we do not need to ask as many reviewers to review submissions (which hopefully means that when we do ask, reviewers are more likely to accept!). Second, the Editorial Board oversee submissions that go out for full review: after reading the manuscript, they choose appropriate reviewers and invite them, invite additional reviewers when some decline, and read the reviewer’s comments when they are sent in and make a decision of whether to reject the submission after review or send it for revision to the authors using the reviewers’ comments and their own. This process is repeated when the revised manuscript is submitted. Editorial Board members are also likely to be heavily involved in feature issues and reviewing (see sections below). THANK YOU, FEATURE ISSUE EDITORS Feature issues are highly regarded by authors and researchers as lots of relevant work can be found in one issue. The 2025 feature issues were Aging, the Eye and Vision System in February (editors Lisa Keay, Edmund Arthur, Erica Fletcher, Hilde van der Aa, Joanne Wood, Jonathan Denniss, Sheela Kumaran, and William Ngo) and Advances in Refractive Error Research in May (editors Mark Bullimore, Ian Flitcroft, Nicola Logan, Lisa Ostrin, Machelle Pardue, Jan Roelof Polling, Tom Raasch, and Pei-Chang Wu). They involve a lot of work, so thank you to the Editorial Board members and guest editors for producing two superb feature issues. THANK YOU, EDITORIAL OFFICE The OVS editorial office of Kurt Zadnik and Patricia Chasuk do a tremendous job that includes screening all submissions, chasing editors, reviewers, and authors to keep the process running quickly and smoothly, and quality check all aspects of an accepted submission before it goes to the publishers. Kurt has been the editorial office manager for nearly 30 years and he has seen all the mistakes that authors, reviewers, and editors can make and knows how to fix them! THANK YOU, AUTHORS Without authors submitting their research work, there would be no journal, so we very much thank all authors. Hopefully, the Editorial Board and reviewers provide useful feedback for those that do not get published. Those papers that do get published are helping us to increase the impact factor of the journal, which has increased from 1.4 in 2022 to 1.6 in 2023 and 1.8 last year.
