Measurements (n=21): HW: 0.86–0.97, HL: 0.49–0.63; AL (holotype): 1.88; OL: 0.20–0.25; PL: 0.77–0.89; PW: 1.32–1.51; ESL: 1.74–2.01; EW: 1.74–1.95; AW: 1.36–1.47; MTbL (holotype): 1.15; MTrL (holotype): 0.40 (MTrL 1–4: 0.24; MTrL 5: 0.16); AedL: 1.00; TL: 3.37–4.58 (holotype: 4.05). Body wide, moderately convex. Yellowish brown to reddish-brown, with darkened head and sometimes abdomen, reddish-brown to brown; antennomeres 3–11 brown; mouthparts, antennomeres 1 and 2, lateral and basal parts of pronotum, lateral parts of elytra, legs, apical part of abdominal tergite VIII and apical segment yellow to yellow-brown (sometimes apical maxillary palpomere distinctly paler). Body very shiny, especially between elytral punctures, without distinct microsculpture on pronotum and elytra; anterior portions of head near antennal insertions and posterio-lateral parts with delicate, transverse wavy microsculpture, posterior parts of infraorbital ridges with coarse transverse and irregular wrinkle-shaped sculpture, lateral sides of neck with somewhat rugose cellular sculpture, larger and smoothed in middle part, abdomen with vague isodiametric microsculpture. Frons and middle part of head with variable and irregular small punctation, denser and larger between middle length of eyes, punctation of infraorbital ridges extremely rugose, denser and deeper posteriad with punctures indistinctly coalescent; middle part of neck with irregular, moderately deep and large punctation; pronotum with coarse and dense deep punctation, denser on bottom of longitudinal impression in medio-basal portion, slightly smaller and sometimes sparser laterally; scutellum with several irregular and small punctures; punctation of elytra as that on pronotum, slightly deeper and denser on middle of elytra, punctation of lateral and latero-apical portions of elytra distinctly sparser; abdominal tergites with sparse and very small punctures. Body glabrous except for clypeus with long setation, lateral portions of pronotum and elytra with very short setae between crenulation and abdominal tergites, with very small, regular and sparse setation. Habitus as in Fig. 39. Head 1.5–1.7 times as wide as long, markedly widened posteriad behind eyes (Fig. 42); middle portion slightly, irregularly elevated, with small median transverse impression between posterior parts of eyes, with moderately deep occipital furrow sometimes slightly elevated in middle, with deep narrow to wide grooves in front of ocelli reaching middle or anterior third of length of eye; distance between posterior margin of eye and distinctly smoothed postocular ridges as long as third of longitudinal length of eye; latero-apical portions of head between anterior margin of eyes and moderately small semicircular notch slightly convex. Eyes moderately small, convex. Ocelli markedly large, very convex, situated almost at level of postocular ridges; distance between ocelli equal to distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Labrum narrow, with slightly protruded latero-basal portions, with small, uniform apical emargination (Fig. 5). Mandibles slightly elongated (Fig. 8). Labium narrow, with elongated apical segments of labial palpomeres; submentum narrow (Fig. 14). Apical segment of maxillary palp more than three times as long as preceeding segment (Fig. 11). Gular sutures widely rounded apically, gradually, widely diverging posteriad towards neck; shortest distance between sutures located at level of posterior margin of eyes (Fig. 42). Antenna reaching apical fourth of elytra when reclined; antennomeres 3–8 distinctly elongated; outer edge of apical antennomere slightly oblique; measurements of antennomeres (holotype): 1: 0.22 × 0.10; 2: 0.15 × 0.07; 3–4: 0.18 × 0.06; 5: 0.17 × 0.06; 6–7: 0.18 × 0.06; 8: 0.17 × 0.06; 9: 0.16 × 0.06; 10: 0.12 × 0.07; 11: 0.17 × 0.08. Pronotum 1.6–1.7 times as wide as long, 1.5 times as wide as head, widest above middle, markedly narrowed both anteriad and posteriad; apical margin about as wide as posterior margin; anterior angles moderately widely rounded, indistinctly protruded anteriad; posterior angles obtuse; latero-apical and lateral edge of pronotum with irregular, more or less sharp, large crenulation; disc of pronotum with wide middle elevation widened posteriad, with indistinct to distinct irregular longitudinal impression in apical part and with a pair of semioval impressions in medio-basal third, sometimes middle portion between medio-basal impressions markedly elevated with short, narrow longitudinal impression; lateral portions distinctly explanate, each with oval deep pit at middle. Prothorax (Fig. 44) with moderately short intercoxal and mesosternal processes. Mesothorax (Fig. 48) markedly transverse, with wide, slightly convex middle part, with rounded elongated intercoxal process. Scutellum (Fig. 46) with widely rounded apex. Metathorax (Fig. 50) very narrow, with wide and moderately deep intercoxal cavities and with wide intercoxal process somewhat narrowed apicad. Metendosternite as in Fig. 52. Elytra about as long as wide and slightly more than twice as long as pronotum, moderately widened apicad, reaching apical margin of adominal tergite IV, or basal margin of tergite V and sometimes covering almost all abdomen, except for tergites VII–VIII and apical segment, with widely rounded apical margins truncated at suture (Fig. 54); shoulders widely rounded; lateral portions of elytra wide, distinctly explanated, latero-apical margins with small smoothed crenulation; each elytron with either vague or small but not both, and irregular elevations between punctures, together with glossy surface appearing wrinkled. Wings fully developed. Legs moderately long; medial side of tibia with irregular row of shortened, widened setae mixed with long thin setation, lateral side with setation be1- Coleoptera name of the true morel mushroom (Morchella esculenta, Morchellaceae), with characteristic honeycomb-shaped cap. It refers to very coarse and deep punctation of the elytra of a new species.
