Résumé
datasets.shared.infosheet.CitationMgr@3f9 Dataset: Reports annual median income by race and Hispanic origin of householder in most recent year dollars. Median income is the amount that divides the income distribution into two equal groups, half having incomes above the median, half having incomes below the median. Also reported are a 2-year and 3-year moving average of median income by race and Hispanic origin of householder. The householder refers to the person (or one of the people) in whose name the housing unit is owned or rented (maintained) or, if there is no such person, any adult member, excluding roomers, boarders, or paid employees. If the house is owned or rented jointly by a married couple, the householder may be either the husband or the wife. The number of householders is equal to the number of households. A household consists of all the people who occupy a housing unit, including the related family members and all unrelated people who share the housing unit. The Historical Income Tables from the United States Census Bureau are based on results of the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS ASEC). Because of its detailed questionnaire, the CPS ASEC is considered the primary source of timely official national estimates of poverty levels and rates and of widely used estimates of household income and individual earnings, as well as the distribution of that income. The CPS is primarily a labor force survey and is conducted every month by the Census Bureau for the Bureau of Labor Statistics using computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) and computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI). The Basic CPS is used to calculate the monthly unemployment rate estimates. The ASEC provides annual estimates based on a survey of more than 75,000 household. The survey contains detailed questions covering social and economic characteristics of each person who is a household member as of the interview date. Income questions refer to income received during the previous calendar year. These questions measure the level of family income and household composition are used to determine poverty status. https://www-census-gov.libproxy2.usc.edu/data/tables/time-series/demo/income-poverty/historical-income-households.html Category: Population and Income Subject: Households, Household Income, Householders Source: United States Census Bureau The US Census Bureau is a bureau of the US Department of Commerce.
