Paradelia lundbecki (Ringdahl); Ringdahl 1959: 291. Paradelia lundbeckii (Ringdahl); Hennig 1972: 444, text figs. 391A–D. Paradelia (Paradelia) lundbeckii (Ringdahl); Griffiths 1987: 758, figs. 896–899, 903–904. For further references see Hennig (1972: 444) and Griffiths (1987: 758). Description. Small to medium-sized (WL 4.0–5.4mm; n=16). Male. Antenna black; palpus brownish black. Head and body brownish black, densely olive grey dusted, tinted with olive brown on dorsum of thorax. Three narrow dark stripes vaguely indicated on mesonotum; abdomen with a narrow dark mid-dorsal stripe widely interrupted at hind margins of tergites II–V; pregenital segments thinly dusted, with a matt shine. Legs brownish black, on tibiae more or less brown to yellow ochre. Wing light brown tinged, calyptrae concolorous but paler; haltere yellow ochre. Upper frons same width as to much narrower than diameter of anterior ocellus; parafrontals usually contiguous. Frontal setae 2–3 pairs on lower half of frons. Pair of interfrontal setulae present. Genal setae few, arranged in single row. Parafacial moderately narrow, in middle same width as to slightly wider than basal width of fore tibia. Prealar seta decidedly shorter than posterior notopleural seta. Proepisternals 2; proepimerals 4–7. Prosternum bare. Vein C devoid of setulae on dorsal and ventral surfaces. Mid femur with longish pv setae on basal half standing in single row. Hind femur with 2–3 pv setae confined to basal two-fifths. Tergite VI free. Sternites I–IV (Fig. 23). Sternite V (Figs. 24, 25): ventral projection of posterior lobes about as deep as wide in middle. Hypopygium (Figs. 26, 27): Surstyli not constricted latero-distally. Gonites (Fig. 28): pregonite moderately broad, with 0 submedian and several apical setulae; postgonite moderately slender and pointed distally, submedian seta inserted distal to mid-length. Female. Antenna fuscous ochre on basal segments, black on postpedicel. Palpus black, often becoming yellow ochre basally. Head extensively translucent yellow ochre on anterior parts, frontal vitta orange brown to orange yellow on distal half or more. Thorax dark except more or less translucent yellow ochre on postpronotal lobe, olive grey dusted with faded dark, olive brown stripes on anterior mesonotum. Legs, apart from infuscated tarsi, yellow ochre, more or less darkened on posterior part of fore femur. Abdomen ochre yellow, with a matt shine showing through thin light grey dusting. Antennal postpedicel notably broad, reaching margin of face, with numerous olfactory pits on outer and inner surfaces. Palpus short, apically distinctly spatulate. Parafrontals about one-quarter as wide as frontal vitta. Parafacial same width as or slightly wider than basal width of fore tibia. Genal setae few, uniserial. Prosternum bare. Proepisternals 2(–3); proepimerals 3–10. Vein C without setulae on dorsal and ventral surfaces. Oviscapt (Fig. 12) almost as in P. lunatifrons (see Fig. 11) except for sclerotized connection between longitudinal struts of tergite VIII. Material examined. Ackland), 1 female (lakeside, shingle & heath, 350m) 23.vii.1995 (D.M. Ackland). Distribution. Available data suggest that this Holarctic species has a circumpolar distribution in the subarctic forest zone and adjacent low-arctic tundra. It is mainly known from northern Canada (Griffiths 1987) and northern or elevated parts of Fennoscandia, but a female specimen from Yakutia, Russian Far East, also agrees with the present species.
