Résumé

récupéré en direct d'OpenAlex

Introduction: In democratic countries, the policies used for drug abuse were initiated through the criminalization and medicalization discourse, in which the user is the responsibility of the state and the judiciary, and most of the time is subjected to hospitalization through excess. Trying to establish actions that go beyond health care, where in 1986 the Ottawa Charter puts health on the priority agenda of politicians and leaders at all levels and sectors, drawing their attention to the consequences their decisions can have on health and to accept their political responsibilities to health. Objective: To identify the profile of inmates in drug treatment situations in a city in the interior of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Methodology: This is a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach study with men who used drugs and are undergoing treatment in a Chemical Dependency Clinic restricted to male care with 100 inmates. Considerations: Sixty-one men aged 12 to 61 years participated in the study, where most inmates (38%, n = 28) are in the age group of 31 to 40 years, followed by 18% (n = 11) with 25 to 30 years. Length of stay varies from 10 days to 4 years, where 49% (n = 30) are hospitalized within 1 month to 3 months, followed by 30% (n = 18) within 4 to 6 years. months. Regarding lifetime use, alcohol and tobacco were identified as the most commonly used drugs over time (92%, n = 56 for both), followed by cannabis 84% ??(n = 51), cocaine and / or crack, anxiolytics, hypnotics and sedatives 75% (n = 46 for both drugs), inhalants 52% (n = 32), hallucinogens 33% (n = 20), stimulants such as amphetamines and escstasy 26% (n = 16) and opioids 11% (n = 7). This study showed that alcohol and tobacco, being legal and highly stimulated drugs in the media, make the use of it intensely compared to illegal ones. This use too is surely the gateway to the dependency. Given this identified problem, we realize the need for greater intervention by public policies, focusing not only on illicit drugs, but especially in relation to alcohol and tobacco.
