Advancing quality teaching in higher education across Europe, America, and Asia: cross-cultural innovation, competence, and engagement
Notice bibliographique
Résumé
In today’s evolving educational landscape, teacher training programs must adapt to address digital learning, emotional intelligence, and inclusive education. This study examines the role of transcultural synergies in enhancing teaching competencies through cross-cultural collaboration among institutions in Cuba, Moldova, Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Thailand, Finland, Colombia, Portugal, Canada, the Czech Republic, China, and Nepal. Cultural diversity profoundly impacts education, yet traditional teacher training programs often lack strategies to integrate it into pedagogy. As classrooms become increasingly multicultural, educators need skills to engage with diverse students effectively. This research explores how intercultural experiences can foster inclusive, dynamic, and effective teaching. By focusing on transcultural synergies, the study provides insights into developing competencies that address students’ diverse needs. Grounded in a theoretical framework on cultural diversity in pedagogy (Pozo-Rico et al., 2020; Pozo-Rico & Sandoval, 2020), this study builds on existing research on emotional intelligence, competence-based education, and cross-cultural teaching practices. The objectives are twofold: (1) Assess the effectiveness of transcultural synergies in enhancing teaching competencies and identify best practices for integrating cultural diversity into training programs. (2) Explore the relationship between transcultural experiences and key teaching competencies, examining how cross-cultural exposure enhances pedagogical effectiveness and contributes to inclusivity in higher education. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, using pre- and post-intervention assessments to measure changes in teaching competencies. Standardized tools ensure quantitative data reliability, while qualitative data from focus groups and interviews provide deeper insights into participants’ experiences and challenges. Triangulating both data types enables a comprehensive analysis, capturing measurable outcomes and subjective perspectives. This methodology ensures a robust evaluation of transcultural synergies and adaptive pedagogical models in teacher education. Findings indicate that transcultural synergies significantly improve teaching competencies, particularly in adaptive pedagogy, student engagement, and inclusive strategies. Quantitative data show notable gains among educators participating in cross-cultural programs, aligning with prior studies on cultural diversity’s role in shaping effective teaching methodologies (Amiel & Yemini, 2023; Pozo-Rico et al., 2020, 2023, 2024). Beyond measurable outcomes, qualitative data highlight the transformative nature of transcultural collaboration. Educators reported greater confidence in integrating diverse perspectives, fostering inclusive learning environments, and leveraging digital tools. Exposure to different educational paradigms enriched pedagogical approaches, leading to more dynamic and responsive classrooms. Comparing results with existing literature, this study reinforces that integrating cultural diversity into teacher training is not merely an addition but a fundamental shift toward holistic, equitable, and competency-based education. Prior research has shown that intercultural exposure enhances socio-emotional skills and adaptability (Pozo-Rico et al., 2020). This study expands on those insights by demonstrating how structured cross-cultural engagement directly fosters pedagogical innovation and teaching effectiveness. These findings suggest that higher education institutions should prioritize policies that promote international collaboration in teacher training. Transcultural synergies cultivate globally competent educators who can meet the demands of diverse student populations. This study underscores the role of cross-cultural innovation in improving higher education teaching. Engaging in transcultural exchanges helps educators develop competencies for inclusive, adaptive, and student-centered learning. Exposure to diverse educational frameworks fosters pedagogical flexibility, innovation, and responsiveness to 21st-century challenges. As global changes reshape higher education, institutions must integrate cross-cultural experiences into teacher training. International collaboration, digital resource-sharing, and intercultural professional development are essential for fostering a globally competent teaching workforce. Future efforts should establish policies supporting ongoing transcultural engagement. Strengthening partnerships among universities in Europe, America, and Asia will enhance teaching effectiveness and contribute to a more equitable educational landscape.
