Lighting systems design for urban air mobility vertiport: critical analysis and experimental validation
Notice bibliographique
Résumé
• A critical analysis of the new concept of airport called “Vertiport”, which is attracting attention for future urban air traffic control. • In light of numerous international standards and industrial experiences, a new design for the main vertiport lights is proposed in this study with LED technology. • It explains how to transform state-of-art sinusoidal wave type regulators from traditional constant current regulators for LED lighting. • Improved performances are investigated through the use of a new LE aviation lighting power system in modeling and experimental validation. • Intelligent lighting systems to support the expansion of UAM infrastructure in the future is encouraged. More secure and effective aerial lighting systems are being created for the future thanks to the introduction of the vertiport concept for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) infrastructure. First, considering the unique constraints from UAM operations and global environmental issues, this paper gives an overview of significant aircraft lighting installations that call for energy-efficient LED lighting technology. Then, design ideas for cutting-edge lighting systems for the vertiport are introduced. To satisfy the demands of modern LED lighting technologies, the paper also describes how to switch from conventional constant current regulators (CCRs) to sophisticated sinusoidal wave type CCRs (S-CCRs). Transient simulation and a hardware-based experimental validation are used in this work to evaluate the benefits of S-CCR, including improved power factor, reduced harmonic content, and improved control over the output current waveform. Furthermore, this paper offers suggestions for integrating LED technology in upcoming vertical takeoff and landing projects and addresses potential problems with it, such as voltage drop and power factor variations.
