Résumé

récupéré en direct d'OpenAlex

Flemish Government UNESCO was created in 1945 in order to respond to the firm belief of nations, forged by two world wars in less than a generation, where political and economic agreements are not enough to build a lasting peace. Peace must be estab-lished on the basis of humanity’s moral and intellectual solidarity. UNESCO strives to build networks among nations that enable this kind of solidarity, by mobilizing for education, building intercultural understanding; pursuing scientific coopera-tion and protecting freedom of expression. UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB), launched in 1971, is an Intergovernmental Scientific Programme that aims to establish a scientific basis for the improvement of relationships between people and their envi-ronments. MAB’s work engages with the international development agenda and addresses challenges linked to scientific, environmental, societal and development issues in diverse ecosystems: from mountain regions to marine, coastal and island areas; from tropical forests to drylands and to urban development zones. The United Nations University (UNU) is an organ of the United Nations established by the General Assembly in 1972 to be an international community of scholars engaged in research, advanced training, and the dissemination of knowl-edge related to pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare. Its activities focus mainly on environment and sustainable development, and peace and governance. The UNU Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) is a member of the UNU family of organiza-tions. It was created by the UNU Governing Council in 1996 to strengthen water management capacity, particularly of developing countries, and to provide on-the-ground project support, with its core funding provided by the Government of Canada. It is hosted by McMaster University, Canada.
