THE 1950S-1960SThe article presents the findings of scientific and historical research into the remigration of Ukrainians from Latin America and Canada to Volyn Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR during the post-World War II period.It outlines the main reasons, stages, and patterns of Ukrainian emigration which contributed to the formation of the Ukrainian diaspora.It describes the occupational and professional profiles of Ukrainian emigrants in Latin American countries.It analyzes the Soviet policy of repatriating compatriots to their historical homeland and highlights the role of Soviet diplomatic missions and embassies in persuading Ukrainian remigrants to return to the USSR.It describes the KGB's supervision of the remigration process through the Committee For Return to the Motherland.It outlines the reasons and motives behind remigrants' return to Ukraine, including family ties, nostalgia for their homeland, and a positive perception of Soviet life.It highlights the directions and routes of remigration to Volyn Oblast.Special attention is given to the agent and operational activities of the KGB Directorate in Volyn Oblast concerning returning remigrants.It indicates the categories of remigrants who were considered by KGB agents to be hostile foreign agents.The information obtained by the Soviet secret services from remigrants is outlined, including details about the naval bases of Argentina, Ukrainian national organizations in Buenos Aires, and the law enforcement structures of Argentina and Canada.It examines the Soviet policy of providing remigrants with employment, housing, and financial support to cultivate a positive image of the USSR.It reveals the sentiments of the remigrants, their disappointment with Soviet life, and their aspirations to return to Latin America and Canada.It explores the role of the Soviet press in propagating and imposing a negative portrayal of life in Latin American countries and Canada upon remigrants.
