Abstract
China's industrial enterprises made profits of 159.1 billion yuan (US$19.2billion) during the first quarter of this year, nearly double that of the same period last year, the National Bureau of Statistics in late April. The profit growth, which stood at 94.3 per cent,was much faster than the 20.6 per cent rate recorded for the whole of 2002.
