O objetivo deste artigo e demonstrar o potencial transformador do estudo das narrativas indigenas nos cursos de Literaturas de Lingua Inglesa atraves da analise dos contos “A Coyote Columbus Story” (1993) e “A Short History of Indians in Canada” (2005) Ao recuperarem elementos das narrativas tradicionais dos Blackfoot, ao mesmo tempo em que situam o leitor no Canada contemporâneo, os contos de King confirmam o humor indigena como um espaco estrategico e efetivo para construir conhecimento sobre o passado colonial do Canada e repensar o pais a partir das diferentes identidades culturais presentes em seu territorio. A inclusao dessas narrativas nos programas das disciplinas confirma a importância do ensino-aprendizagem da lingua inglesa a partir de uma perspectiva transcultural.
