Abstract
Les jeux de simulation ne sont pas en soi des nouveautés. Ils existent depuis longtemps et ont été utilisés par la plupart des gouvernements pour entraîner leurs militaires et faire des prédictions. Ce n'est cependant que depuis la Deuxième Guerre mondiale que les simulations ont commencé à se développer en sciences sociales et leur introduction à l'enseignement est fort récente. C'est aux États-Unis que cet intérêt pour les jeux à contexte simulé s'est d'abord et surtout répandu. Des chercheurs européens - en particulier d'Angleterre et de Norvège - et israéliens prennent aussi une part active dans l'élaboration des jeux de simulation. Comme le milieu francophone n'a pas encore été tellement touché par cette approche, ce texte, en plus d'être un examen du potentiel des jeux dans l'enseignement de la sociologie au niveau collégial et universitaire, examine l'état actuel des connaissances en ce domaine.
