Este art?culo propone que a pesar de su tentativa de forjar una conciencia hispano americana, novela del Boom tiene como su enfoque principal el contexto nacional del pa?s de origen del autor. La integraci?n que se realiza en estas novelas es m?s que todo una consolidaci?n de identidad nacional. La llamada conciencia hispanoamericana se radica en asimilaci?n simult?nea, en distintos pa?ses, de identidades regionales o ?tnicas. Enfoc?ndose en el caso de La casa verde de Mario Vargas Llosa, el art?culo analiza integraci?n progresiva de personajes provenientes de realidades exc?ntricas como Bonifacia, una ind?gena de regi?n amaz?nica, y Lituma, un mangache de un barrio obrero de Piura. Se interpreta el aniquilamiento de sus identidades ?tnicas y/o regionales como un rasgo del impulso centralizador y asimilacionista que gobierna el texto. El an?lisis se nutre de las teor?as de Benedict Anderson, seg?n las cuales construcci?n ideol?gica de naci?n burguesa depende de creaci?n de un concepto de cronolog?a compartido por todos los habitantes del territorio nacional. Igualmente, se refiere a las ideas de Antonio Cornejo Polar, quien critica tentativa de imponerle una identidad coherente a una naci?n heterog?nea como el Per?. Se mantiene que a Don Anselmo, quien protagoniza liberaci?n de Mangacher?a mediante construcci?n de los dos prost?bulos llamados la casa verde, se le permite jugar el papel de libertador, en t?rminos de ideolog?a de novela, porque carece de patria chica, acento regional o identidad ?tnica. Por eso, sirve como modelo del ser puramente nacional: meta hacia cual se desarrollan los otros personajes. Finalmente, se ubica esta novela dentro del desarrollo del propio Vargas Llosa, desde un escritor joven en cuya obra protesta social y las ideas marxistas se enfrentaban con el individualismo, hasta el conocido partidario del neo-liberalismo evidente en las novelas, ensayos y discursos de las dos ?ltimas d?cadas.
