En este art?culo se analiza el personaje de Zoraida la joven mora que ayuda a escapar al cautivo de la historia intercalada en el Quijote bajo la perspectiva de las leyendas y tradiciones de apariciones ma?anas. En concreto, se compara su descripci?n f?sica a las ornamentadas estatuas de la virgen frecuentes en los san tuarios de devoci?n popular en la ?poca. Igualmente se compara la estructura de los eventos en esta historia con los de las apariciones ma?anas. Vista as?, la uni?n de Ruy P?rez con Zoraida resulta no una cuesti?n de elecci?n personal sino una orden divina que debe ser cumplida.
