Abstract
Dans ce court texte en hommage aux travaux de Bernard Jouve, on nous a demandé d’écrire sur la notion de ville créative. Avec Jouve, nous avons beaucoup travaillé sur la gouvernance métropolitaine et la constitution de nouveaux modes de gouvernance (ou régimes urbains). C’est à partir de ces travaux que ce texte se questionne sur la pertinence de la notion de ville créative dans le contexte particulier de Toronto où, malgré l’absence d’institutions métropolitaines fortes, une certaine gouvernance métropolitaine est en marche. Or la notion de ville créative met sérieusement au défi cette échelle métropolitaine de gouvernance, axée exclusivement sur la centralité au détriment des périphéries de la métropole. À l’aide de deux personnages publics puissants à Toronto, Richard Florida et David Pecaut, nous proposons une critique de cette notion de ville créative désormais dominante.
