Abstract
L'éducation est définie comme l'exercice d'un pouvoir. Cette perspective, selon l'auteur, prend forme à la fois comme l'aboutissement de recherches antérieures et comme une rupture avec des approches plus familières. Dans une première partie, on s'attache surtout à montrer par l'étude de quatre thèmes de recherche (éducation et classes sociales, socialisation politique, éducation et économie, aspects bureaucratique et organisationnel des institutions scolaires) comment l'utilisation de la notion de pouvoir semble s'imposer comme condition d'un renouvellement de l'analyse sociologique de l'éducation. Dans une seconde partie, un rappel des notions théoriques sur le pouvoir et un rapprochement de ces notions avec l'action éducative permettent de constater que la relation pédagogique est véritablement une relation de pouvoir. Ceci ne constituant qu'une première étape dans l'exploration de la perspective adoptée au départ, on indique en conclusion comment les théories sur la structure du pouvoir pourraient permettre de poursuivre la recherche sur le pouvoir pédagogique.
