En este articulo, Alex Seglers, profesor de Derecho Eclesiastico de la Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), analiza el influjo de La clausula multiculturalista (Seccion 27 de La Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms) sobre La Libertad religiosa. La cultura civica de La sociedad canadiense se encuentra conformada por una tradicion de tolerancia respecto a La diversidad social y religiosa. Por ello se ha consolidado en la jurisprudencia la tecnica del acomodo razonable frente a las demandas derivadas del ejercicio de la libertad religiosa. A diferencia de la puntual affirmarive acction estadounidense, pensada originariamente para la solucion provisional de conflictos raciales, la politica multiculturalista se constitucionalizo con la intencion de fijar, pro futura, un objetivo politico estatal, basado en el reconocimiento y el acomodo del pluralismo religioso y cultural, a partir de una concepcion de la igualdad mas compleja y postmoderna.
