La fouille de la nécropole de Jbeibat en 2001, à 500 mètres au nord-ouest du théâtre romain de Jablé, par une équipe syrienne, a permis la découverte de huit tombes. Trois types de sépultures (collectives ou individuelles) ont pu être définis : tombe à entrée en puits, tombe à entrée en escalier et tombe à inhumation simple. Les tombes ont été creusées dans la roche tendre locale. Aucune n’est décorée, et à ce jour aucune inscription n’indique le nom des défunts ou de leur famille. Leur niveau social est difficile à cerner, contrairement aux tombeaux de Palmyre ou aux tombes de Syrie du Sud de même époque. Malgré le pillage de ces tombes, un important matériel funéraire a pu être récupéré : céramiques, verres, fusaïoles, perles en pierre ou pâte de verre et pièces en métal. À partir de ces objets, il est possible de proposer une datation de ces tombes depuis l’époque hellénistique jusqu’à la période romaine.
