La bibliothèque de l’Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM) a réalisé une étude de faisabilité sur la possibilité d’établir un partenariat avec les bibliothèques publiques du Québec afin de diffuser de l’information de qualité aux personnes âgées et aux aidants. Lors de cette étude, différents acteurs ont été rencontrés et plusieurs constats ont été faits concernant les habitudes des clientèles âgées qui fréquentent ou qui ne fréquentent pas les bibliothèques et sur les défis que ces dernières rencontrent pour les attirer et les fidéliser. L’étude a permis de prendre connaissance de projets inspirants, d’identifier des éléments déterminants dans la création d’un partenariat réussi et d’élaborer des pistes de réflexion quant aux types de services et produits offerts et à offrir à une clientèle d’aînés et d’aidants en bibliothèque publique. Comment les aînés fréquentent-ils nos bibliothèques ? Quels sont les besoins ? Quelles avenues pourraient être explorées ? Comment repenser le rôle des bibliothèques spécialisées dans ce contexte ? C’est ce que nous aborderons à travers la présentation de cette étude de faisabilité.
