Abstract
On connaît assez bien le rôle d’une bibliothèque publique ou universitaire, et les dictionnaires en les définissant parlent généralement d’un édifice où sont classés divers types de documents pouvant être consultés sur place ou à distance, ou d’une organisation comprenant divers services dont une salle de lecture ou de consultation. Qu’en est-il d’une bibliothèque parlementaire ? Une bibliothèque parlementaire remplit bien sûr les mêmes fonctions qu’une bibliothèque publique et universitaire auprès de ses usagers parlementaires, mais elle a souvent bien d’autres responsabilités dans le traitement de l’information, la sauvegarde du patrimoine et la conservation des archives. L’article qui suit s’attachera davantage à cette dimension; l’auteur présentera ce qui se fait ailleurs, mais il montrera surtout l’effort particulier assumé par la Bibliothèque de l’Assemblée nationale du Québec.
