Abstract
Environmental disasters, such as the recent (November 2002) oil spill caused by the sinking of the Prestige off the coast of Spain, constitute problems that call for scientific analysis and political decisions. They open up, moreover, a spectrum of questions that call for an analysis from the perspective of a broadened conception of bioethics.
