Abstract
Al finalizar el conflicto por las Islas Malvinas, el 14 de junio de 1982, y acordarse la rendición argentina ante las tropas del Reino Unido, todas las armas callaron, a excepción de una en particular, aquella que una sola frase la caracteriza, <i>la mina está eternamente dispuesta a tomar victimas. Es el soldado perfecto, nunca descansa y siempre cumple con su deber</i>. Desde entonces alrededor de 25.000 artefactos explosivos permanecen activos en las islas distribuidos en 117 campos, algunos de ellos cercanos a la capital de las islas. En el año 2001, la República Argentina y el Reino Unido, siendo Estados signatarios de la Convención de Ottawa, y como producto del diálogo, acordaron desarrollar mediante intercambio de notas3 , un estudio de factibilidad para el desminado de las islas, llevándose el mismo adelante a mediados del año 2007 y siendo presentado ante la comunidad internacional el resultado final. El objetivo del presente trabajo es describir y analizar como superando en ciertos aspectos la disputa de soberanía territorial que hay por dichos territorios, la República Argentina y el Reino Unido a la luz de la cooperación humanitaria, superan la oscuridad de la disputa territorial, llevando adelante dicha empresa.
