Abstract
The article dwells on the brief history of flour-grinding and oil-pressing industries in Yova settlement in the XX-ieth century. Proceeding from the ancient origin of the settlement name, which designated “grain”in the Avestian language the author states that the settlement of Yova is one of the oldest agricultural centers of Khujand oasis. When working with the archive data the author ascertained the number of agrarians, their names, cost and productive capacities of mills and oil-presses in the settlement in the first quarter of the XX-ieth century. The information conducted by questioning has been used for a reflection of the state of the traditional production of flour and oil in the 50-ies -70ies of the XX th century.
