Abstract
総合せき損センター医用工学研究部は脊髄損傷の単一疾患専門医療機関、急性期医療機関という他のリハビリテーション医療機関とは異なる性格を持つ医療機関に所属している。この医療機関の性格を切り口に福祉工学領域での活動を振り返る。本報では昭和54年の開設以来当研究部で取り組んできた車いす、褥そう予防、コミュニケーション、排泄管理などの分野の9つのプロダクトを取り上げ、リハビリテーション医療機関内の工学研究部門が果たす役割を述べる。
