Abstract
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo responder a la pregunta ¿cómo se proyectó el uso del catecismo en la cristianización de la población indígena de la provincia de Cartagena de Indias? Para dar respuesta a la pregunta se hace un análisis interno del discurso contenido en los documentos de presentación del catecismo producido por fray Dionisio de Santis obispo de Cartagena entre 1574 y 1577. Dicho análisis permite dar cuenta del problema de la eficacia de la instrucción del indígena de la provincia de Cartagena desde una triple perspectiva: la del instrumento, la de los agentes y la de la pedagogía.
