La raza 1-2 de F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis se ha aislado en Almeria de plantas de melon en varias explotaciones dispersas en el Poniente almeriense y en La Canada. Esta es la primera vez que se detecta la raza 1-2 en Espana. Tres de las cepas recolectadas causaron enfermedad en cultivares con los genes de resistencia Fom1, Fom2 y Fom1+Fom2. Las plantas enfermas mostraban una sintomatologia caracterizada por una necrosis del tallo que se exterioriza a unos 50 cm del suelo, sin previo amarilleamiento de las hojas, inusual en las plantas afectyadas de Fusariosis, observadas hasta entonces. La presencia de cepas pertenecientes a las razas 0 y 1 tipo Wilt supone una novedad mundial
