Abstract
Cette étude présente une réflexion sur les liens qui existent entre la presse spécialisée et l’anglais de spécialité. Elle propose plus particulièrement une analyse de la presse professionnelle de façon à montrer en quoi son utilisation est pertinente tant comme objet d’enseignement que comme objet de recherche. Elle illustre cette réflexion avec des exemples de revues britanniques qui appartiennent à deux domaines spécialisés différents : celui de l’enseignement supérieur avec le Times Higher Education Supplement et celui du génie civil avec deux publications de l’Institution of Civil Engineering. Les points développés sont la caractérisation éditoriale, les thèmes récurrents et les exploitations qui peuvent être envisagées pour l’enseignement et la recherche.
