Abstract
La fonction de la primaute a eu plusieurs expressions, surtout en reponse a des contextes theologiques et politiques varies. L'exercice pratique de la primaute est etroitement lie a la categorie canonique de juridiction, un concept qui est aussi profondement enracine dans des categories theologiques et soumis a des interpretations et des ambiguites. Cet article revoit la litterature pertinente sur les diverses fonctions de la primaute. Une telle discussion peut etre utile au dialogue oecumenique, surtout au moment ou la Consultation theologique orthodoxe-catholique romaine poursuit ses debats theologiques sur les questions de primaute et de conciliarite. Il est important de savoir quelles conceptions de la primaute peuvent etre mutuellement acceptables et quelles peuvent etre dissidentes.
